UK and US confirm joint participation in CSGs 2021 deployment
The UK and US have signed the joint declaration for the Carrier Strike Group’s (CSG) 2021 deployment.UK Defence Secretary Ben Wallace and US Acting Secretary of Defense Christopher Miller co-signed the declaration.The signing confirms their joint participation in the upcoming CSG deployment.The US Navy and US Marine Corps (USMC) will join the UK Carrier Strike Group, led by flagship aircraft carrier ‘HMS Queen Elizabeth’, on its 2021 inaugural deployment.This will include a detachment of USMC’s F-35B Lightning II jet and the US Navy’s ‘USS THE SULLIVANS (DDG-68)’ destroyer and staff.Last month, the new Carrier Strike Group achieved Initial Operating Capability (IOC). It is the UK’s first CSG in 38 years.The IOC was declared following a series of multi-national exercises throughout the last year.
